Curtiss JN-4 Jenny Diecast Model

Curtiss JN-4 Jenny Diecast Model

Curtiss JN-4 ā€œJennyā€ U.S. Air Mail Service Die-Cast Model – 1:100 Scale

This finely detailed die-cast metal replica of the Curtiss JN-4 ā€œJennyā€ celebrates one of the most important aircraft in early American aviation history. Finished in markings representing the pioneering U.S. Air Mail Service, this classic biplane model captures the look of the aircraft that helped launch the nation’s first regularly scheduled air mail routes. Complete with a display stand, it is a wonderful addition to any early aviation or aviation history collection.

Originally built by the Curtiss Aeroplane Company, the JN-4 Jenny was a single-engine, two-seat biplane widely used as a training aircraft for the U.S. Army during World War I. Thousands of new pilots learned to fly in the dependable Jenny, making it one of the most recognizable American aircraft of the era. After the war, the aircraft gained even greater historical significance when several were transferred to the U.S. Post Office Department to help establish the nation’s first Air Mail Service.

On May 15, 1918, one of these aircraft made history when U.S. Army Lt. George Boyle flew the first official U.S. air mail flight. The route connected Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City, marking the beginning of regularly scheduled air mail service in the United States. President Woodrow Wilson and other officials attended the historic launch at the Potomac Park polo grounds in Washington, where the President personally handed over a letter to be delivered to the Mayor of New York City.

This collectible model commemorates the aircraft that helped usher in a new era of faster communication and laid the groundwork for the modern aviation industry.
