The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is an American carrier-capable supersonic, variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft. The F-14 was the first of the American Teen Series fighters, which were designed incorporating air combat experience against MiG fighters during the Vietnam War. The Tomcat was retired by U.S. Navy on 22 September 2006, having beenĀ replaced by theĀ F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.
This is Academy models kit number 12471. ItĀ is a plastic model kit of the U.S. Navy F-14A Tomcat intended for ages 14 and up. Features include fully engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit interior and landing gear compartment, various under wing ordinance, and movable "SWING-WING".
