The SR-71 Blackbird is a long-range, advanced, supersonic reconnaissance aircraft developed by Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works division. First flown in 1966, the SR-71 is known for its incredible speed and altitude capabilities, reaching over Mach 3 and altitudes above 85,000 feet. Its stealthy design, featuring radar-absorbing materials and an innovative shape, allowed it to conduct high-risk reconnaissance missions over hostile territories. The SR-71's ability to outpace threats made it nearly invulnerable to enemy defenses. Despite its retirement in 1998, the SR-71 remains a symbol of cutting-edge aerospace technology and unmatched aerial reconnaissance.
